Investors Demand Justice Over Alleged Embezzlement by YY Capital Chairman

(Phnom Penh) โ€“ Investors in YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. have appealed to Cambodiaโ€™s Ministry of Justice, calling for urgent action against Yamada Taihei, the companyโ€™s Japanese chairman, who is accused of massive financial misconduct and breach of trust.

According to the complaints, Yamada allegedly manipulated real estate deals to divert around USD 4 million for personal gain. He is also accused of fabricating transactions, arranging loans exceeding USD 7 million in the names of major Japanese companies, and transferring part of the funds abroad to an account held by his wife, Ye Jun.

Reports indicate Yamada created multiple shell companies across Cambodia, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia, appointing nominees as figurehead representatives while controlling all financial operations himself. Authorities suspect these actions may involve embezzlement, forgery, and money laundering.

In Cambodia, prosecutors have already filed at least two criminal cases against Yamada and his associates, freezing numerous assets and bank accounts, while additional investigations continue. Authorities in China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States are also reportedly looking into related financial irregularities.

The investors urged Cambodian courts to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation, protect victimsโ€™ rights, and ensure accountability. They also warned of potential interference from influential figures that could hinder justice, intimidate witnesses, or destroy evidence.
